Juan Lebrón Chincoa is the first Spanish-born player to win the WPT; he effectively halted the dominance of Argentinian players in the game, which has lasted decades. He has been ranked No. 1 in Padel (WPT ranking) for the past 4 years and has held the No. 1 pair title alongside Ale Galan since 2019.
One of his career highlights was winning the Paris Premier at the fabled Roland Garros venue, which is forever immortalized as a career milestone. It was significant because of the Spaniards’ strong feelings about that stadium due to Rafa Nadal’s history with it. Juan feels a strong sense of identification with Nadal. Witnesses to the live game attest that Juan appeared to be driven by the entire stage and the competition, where he was fortunate to prevail.

Juan Lebrón Chincoa’s Start in Padel
Juan Lebrón was introduced to Padel through his father, who played it with his friends.
From the moment the Spanish padel player picked up the racket, he could not put it down. He started playing, practicing, and competing in lower-level tournaments and every sports event he could attend until he attained his current level. He was already a great player when he started competing in the youth leagues at his first club in his hometown, La Isleta. He won the Spanish Junior Championship several times and played in the Junior World Cup. He was also the youngest Absolute Champion in Spain. He won every match in the minor’s division, including the famous finals match against Argentina.
At 17 years of age, he left his home and moved to Madrid, where he gave up all else to play Padel. The choice was challenging for his whole family but best for the padel player’s development.
The Lebrón of Padel
Lebrón has had various partners, even though he is just 28 years old, and his athletic career has not yet run as long as that of other legendary players in this sport. Going from Adrian Allemandi and Juan Cruz Belluati to Juan Martin Díaz, as well as Gabriel Reca and Marcello Jardim. Fortunately, he played with two players who stood out and lifted him: Paquito Navarro, and Ale Galan.
Lebrón, often known as El Lobo on the circuit, became the first Spaniard to hold the world number one ranking, putting an end to decades of Argentine players ruling the sport. The great Paquito Navarro and the Andalusian, who was born in Puerto de Santa Maria (Cádiz), fulfilled the feat in 2019. In 2019, the duo finished the season with a total of five titles after losing only one out of six finals: the São Paulo Open, Bastad Open, Valladolid Master, Alisea Ledus Jaén Open, and the Estrella Damm Alicante Open. Making history together, both become world No. 1.
Lebrón and Galan first met when they were 7 years old and competing in the junior division of national competitions. Later in Madrid, they developed this bond and love of teammates when they practiced under the same trainers. Together, they won 20 WPT titles over the span of three years and two premiere titles in 2022.

Is Lebrón a Wolf in Disguise?
Juan was nicknamed El Lobo (the wolf) for his unique play style.
Simply put, Juan Lebrón has the greatest slam in Padel history. Ever since he reached number one in 2019 with Paquito Navarro, Juan did not let go of the title, resulting in him and Galan occupying the No. 1 position in the world for 4 years.
You see, Juan Lebrón gained notoriety early in his career for performing a trick that eventually helped elevate his game and diversify his learning field. In 2017, he worked alongside Marcello Jardim to start the season and Adrián Allemandi to finish it. He did well with both and completed the season in 19th rank. The 2018 season kicked off with Juan Cruz Belluati. They defeated Fernando Belasteguín and Pablo Lima, the top-ranked team, in the semifinals of the Catalunya Master, the opening event of the season, and advanced to their first final as a couple. By the end of 2018, Juan Martin Diáz served as his new sports partner.
In the padel courts, power, instinct, and relentless pressure on the opponent are traits of his game. All of this has earned him a sour reputation among his peers, especially in moments where he loses his game, falters, and loses control of his emotions. However, the fact remains that his heightened emotions enable him to command the Padel court. Padel fans all know him when he enters the 20×10 padel court, it is as if he is entranced, and his shouts and gestures are spontaneous reactions to what is happening live in the court.
The Padel tennis game, which was previously known for being an endurance game, has been completely reimagined by him. Speed combined with intensity, fluid movements, and a strong smash created shorter points and fast matches with a high rhythm. The reality is that Juan cannot help how good he is; he cannot lose on purpose. In his own words, he considers himself to be a team-first player.
